INCI: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
Processing Method: Filtration and Deodorization
Origin: Europe
Description
Our Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (MCT Oil) is palm-free. It is derived from coconut oil and glycerin and is widely used in cosmetic formulations as an emollient, skin-conditioning agent, and solvent.
This lightweight, non-greasy ingredient helps moisturize the skin while improving the texture of products such as creams and lotions. It also enhances the spreadability and stability of formulations. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is generally regarded as safe, non-comedogenic, and suitable for all skin types.
Benefits
Moisturizing: Forms a protective layer on the skin that helps reduce moisture loss, leaving the skin soft and hydrated.
Texture Enhancer: Gives formulations a smooth, luxurious, and velvety feel.
Product Stability: Helps maintain ingredient stability and extends the overall shelf life of formulations.
Non-comedogenic: Does not block pores, making it ideal for acne-prone or oily skin types.
Versatile: Easily blends with other ingredients without altering the product’s color or fragrance.
Not all MCT oils available on the market are derived entirely from coconuts. Some products may be produced using less sustainable sources such as rapeseed or palm oil.
Our MCT oil is produced through a process known as esterification. First, coconut oil undergoes hydrolysis to separate medium-chain fatty acids and glycerol. The glycerol is preserved, while the fatty acids are distilled into fractions based on their chain lengths. The C8 (Caprylic Acid) and C10 (Capric Acid) fractions are then re-esterified with glycerol to create MCT oil. Finally, the oil is filtered and deodorized to ensure purity and quality.
