The bark is smooth and fibrous toward the trunk's base. The leaves are also disjunct, ranging from linear to narrow-lanceolate. Juvenile leaves are glaucous, whereas adult leaves are gray-green. However, eucalyptus leaves are a favorite meal of Koalas and have long been utilized as traditional medicine by Australia's aboriginal people. It is the most cineol and eucalyptol-rich of the Eucalyptus species, and it is still a popular essential oil around the world.
